Debunking Myths about Nose Fillers and Thread lifts

Nose fillers and nose thread lifts have become highly sought-after cosmetic procedures in Singapore because of their ability to define and add volume to a person’s nose. However, many myths surround their safety profile, effectiveness and suitability for different people. These myths can cause people to mistakenly fear or avoid these treatments, even when they can be beneficial to their well-being.

At 1Aesthetics, we believe in result- and evidence-oriented treatment and want to set the record straight. We’re debunking these myths so that you can be empowered to make an informed decision.

Myth #1: Nose fillers and thread lifts are dangerous

Nose fillers, also known as liquid rhinoplasty, are injectable substances that are used to add volume to the nose or to correct asymmetry. They are usually made of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in your body and is tolerated well by your body. Non-hyaluronic acid fillers may include substances like poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA).

The risks associated with nose fillers are minimal and may include bruising, swelling, and infection. Serious complications such as vascular occlusion can also occur if the filler is injected into a blood vessel, but these are extremely rare. These risks can be minimised by choosing an experienced practitioner.

Nose thread lifts, on the other hand, involve the insertion of small, absorbable threads under the skin to lift and tighten sagging skin. They are a less invasive alternative to a rhinoplasty (nose job) and can be administered on the face, neck, and body. Like nose fillers, thread lifts are generally safe when performed by a qualified practitioner. However, when done incorrectly, complications such as scarring, extrusion, and infection may occur.

Myth #2: Nose fillers and nose thread lifts are painful

Nose fillers and nose thread lifts are minimally invasive and relatively painless.

A topical anaesthetic is applied to numb your skin before a nose filler. You may experience some discomfort during the injection, but it is usually mild and brief.

Similarly, you may also feel some discomfort during the insertion of threads during a nose thread lift, but again, the pain is usually minimal. Thread lifts are performed using numbing cream and local anaesthesia.

Everyone's pain tolerance is different, and some people may experience more discomfort than others during these procedures. An experienced doctor will note your tolerance level and apply the appropriate level of anaesthetic and take whatever steps necessary to minimise your discomfort.

Myth #3: Nose fillers and thread lifts provide instant results

While nose fillers and nose thread lifts produce noticeable changes, they do not typically show their full effects instantly.

Nose fillers can produce immediate results, but the full contouring effect is only visible a few days after the procedure when any swelling or bruising has subsided. With thread lifts, you may notice some immediate results, too, but the full results may take days or weeks to show.

It is important that you know the treatment and recovery time for nose filler and thread lift procedures so that you have realistic expectations of the results.

Myth #4: Nose fillers and nose thread lifts are noticeable and give an unnatural appearance

When administered by a skilled professional, both procedures can provide natural-looking results. Thread lifts are dissolvable threads that are placed strategically beneath the skin, preventing them from being easily visible, and nose fillers are carefully injected to achieve a balanced and harmonious appearance.

The right service provider is key

To ensure you get the best possible outcome from a nose filler or thread lift procedure, it is important that you work with a qualified and experienced doctor. They can assess your anatomy and health profile, before advising on the best way to achieve your aesthetic goals.

At 1Aesthetics, we believe that every treatment has to suit each patient. We provide both nose filler and nose threadlift for nasal augmentation and may perform one or a combination of the two treatments, based on your needs.

To correct a low nose bridge or add definition to the nose tip, we may use a nose thread lift. For high nose bridges, on the other hand, we may combine nose thread lift and nose fillers. And for spot corrections, we may use nose fillers.
