Nose Fillers: What You Need To Know

Nose filler treatment is a quick and easy way to add volume to your nose and enhance your overall appearance.

Unlike other cosmetic procedures, there are no incisions made on the skin during a nose filler treatment and it is ideal for clients who don’t want to commit to something invasive with downtime and scarring.

In this article, you’ll find out just what happens during a nose filler procedure, who is suitable for it, and the methods we use at 1Aesthetics to get the best results for our patients.

What are Nose Fillers?

Nose filler, also known as non-surgical rhinoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that uses injectable fillers to alter the shape of the nose. Nose fillers are a non-invasive option for clients who want to change the shape of their nose without undergoing a major operation, which is typical of traditional rhinoplasty.

The fillers are usually made from hyaluronic acid, which is most commonly used to lend volume to and contour the nose. They are injected into the nose to fill up the space on your nose bridge and nose tip, giving it a more natural shape.

Nose fillers using hyaluronic acid are generally safe. In one study, 29 Asian subjects were asked for their response to a hyaluronic acid filler. 23 of them (79.3%) were satisfied or very satisfied with the filler and 25 of them (86.2%) would recommend it to others. There were no serious adverse effects, either, further supporting the safety profile of hyaluronic acid fillers for non-surgical rhinoplasty.

At 1Aesthetics, we prefer to use very hard and long-lasting hyaluronic acid fillers or other temporary fillers as they are reversible with hyalase. Fillers that act as collagen simulators, on the other hand, are not reversible and can be problematic for people with allergies or in cases where the injection is wrongly applied into a blood vessel.

It can also be preferable to use non-permanent fillers to account for how someone’s facial contours might change with age. A permanent filler that does not change with the face may end up looking more pronounced than desired.

Safety and the long-term well-being of our patients, as always, are priorities at 1Aesthetics.

Are You a Suitable Candidate for Nose Filler Treatment?

Several factors determine whether or not you are a suitable candidate for a nose filler procedure, including:

  • your overall health
  • the condition of your skin
  • the specific changes you are looking to make to your nose

The best candidates for non-surgical rhinoplasty are those who are in good overall health and have skin that is free from significant damage or sagging.

While there are general considerations when it comes to suitability for nose fillers, we know that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. If you are considering non-surgical rhinoplasty it is best to consult a qualified healthcare provider who can evaluate your specific health needs and aesthetic goals.

What to Expect with a Nose Filler Procedure

Before the nose filler procedure, we will clean your nose and apply a numbing cream to minimize any discomfort. The filler injection is relatively quick and painless, but we understand that everyone’s comfort with injections is different.

Filler will then be injected into the treatment area. The precise amount of filler used and the specific injection points will depend on your individual goals and the shape of your nose.

Sometimes a mix of techniques may be used. For those with high nose bridges, for instance, it may be necessary to combine nose fillers with a nose thread lift for optimal results.

In a study of 31 patients who had undergone such a treatment, 93.5% considered the results satisfactory and the incidence of complications was low. To know more about the benefits of combining thread lifts with fillers and other treatments, read this blog post.

A nose filler procedure typically takes between 15 to 25 minutes to complete, and you can go home immediately afterward.

Post-treatment Care for Nose Fillers

You may experience some mild swelling, bruising, or redness at the injection sites for your nose filler, but these symptoms should resolve within 4 to 6 days.

Here are some steps you can take to ensure a smooth recovery.

1-2 days after your procedure

  • Take the medications prescribed by your doctor (antibiotics to prevent infection, medicine for swelling, painkillers for pain management, etc.)
  • Ice your nose to reduce any bruising but avoid pressure on the injected areas
  • Use sunscreen while outdoors after the injection holes have healed
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Avoid using makeup on the injected areas until the injection holes have healed

1-2 weeks after your procedure

  • Avoid strenuous exercise and activities
  • Avoid facials and other treatments for your face
  • Avoid spas, saunas and any activity that exposes your face to heat
  • Avoid rubbing or applying excessive pressure on your face

During your recovery period, do look out for any symptoms that may signal a rare but serious complication such as blurred vision, increasing redness, necrosis, and vascular occlusion. If you experience any such side effects, seek medical attention immediately and notify us.

For the safety of our clients, we use only HSA-approved fillers which are subjected to stringent safety protocols. These also help to reduce the risk of unforeseen complications.

Nose Fillers–a Safe and Effective way to Re-shape Your Nose

Nose fillers are generally a safe and effective way to alter the shape of your nose without undergoing surgery.

Despite fillers being a non-invasive procedure, you should be able to notice their effects almost immediately: the contouring and an increase in volume around your nose bridge and tip.
