Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency

What is Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency?

Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency is a non-laser, non-light based aesthetic procedure that consists of a combination of microneedle and radio frequency energy to treat pigmentation and rough skin caused by acne, wrinkles, fine lines and open pores. The Radiofrequency energy is delivered in a fractional pattern, which stimulates dermal collagen and for an effective and natural healing response.

The depth of energy delivery can go from 0.5mm to 3.5mm, which penetrates greater depths of the dermic compared to fractional ablative lasers.

How does Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency work?

Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency involves penetrating the dermis with insulated micro needles to deliver high-tensioned Radiofrequency pulse into the targeted tissue. This heat causes old collagen and elastin fibres to break down in a controlled manner, and at the same time encourages the body to produce elastin and collagen fibres, thus making skin firmer and healthier.

The micro needles are penetrated directly into the skin at a certain depth, leaving the top skin layer cool. The needle tip contains 25 tiny gold needles which act as an internal conductor.

What are some of the areas that Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency can treat?

Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency is usually done on the face, neck, lips and eyelids. It is effective in treating a myriad of skin problems, such as acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks and enlarged pores. Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency stimulates skin tightening, cell regeneration and collagen production which thereby encourages skin tightening.

Am I a good candidate for Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency?

If you suffer from pigmentation, acne scars, rolling scars, boxcar scars, wrinkles and saggy skin, Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency can work for you. This treatment is also suitable for darker skin individuals, who are usually not suitable candidates for laser treatments.

However, we encourage all patients to communicate their medical history with their doctor before going ahead with treatment.

What is the process of getting Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency like?

Before starting treatment, the patient’s face is numbed for 30 minutes. After which, micro needles are driven into the skin, with Radiofrequency energy then released inside of the skin.

The whole procedure will take about 25-30 minutes depending on the area and pain threshold.

Are there any side effects of Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency treatment? What is the downtime like?

Patients will experience some swelling and warming of the face right after the procedure, however will subside within a few hours. There will also be needle marks too, but they will disappear after 4 days. We also recommend patients avoid sun exposure for a week.

What results can I expect from a Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency treatment?

After a few treatments, patients will see a noticeable difference in their skin quality and texture. For maximum effect, you should wait about 2 weeks. The combination of micro needles and Radiofrequency leads to substantial improvement, especially if the treatment is continued over a few months.
