A Few Words

from Dr Wan

  • Dr Wan Chee Kwang
I do not subscribe to a one size fits all approach to treating pigmentation, such as the indiscriminate application of laser toning or facials that can lead to slow results and potentially serious side effects. Treating pigmentation is not just about machine-based treatment, it is also essential to use topical and oral medication as well as sun protection to control pigmentation production.

Scar treatment should be tailored to the individual. The patient’s skin type, scar configuration, lifestyle and budget are particularly important. Although fractional lasers are well established and widely available, Dr Wan does not believe in the repeated application of many sessions of fractional laser in the hope of improving all types of scarring.

Precisely restoring the facial proportions in only the areas that are needed with an eye on the overall facial proportions usually yields the best results. A conservative approach is usually better, placing less filler initially then topping up as needed to effect gradual, natural looking improvements.
